Nakita received her Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology (with a specialization in Forensic Psychology) from Adler University, Chicago, IL. She is a Canadian Certified Counselor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and a Registered Counselling Therapist – Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. Nakita is also a member of the American Psychology-Law Society and the Society of Trauma Psychology Divisions of the American Psychological Association as well as the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.
Nakita provides therapeutic services in the realm of counselling as well as substance abuse assessments. She has experience working with culturally diverse populations, including individuals with addiction and mental health disorders, as well as trauma related disorders. Nakita offers individual counselling from a trauma-informed, client centered approach with adolescents and adults. She has experience helping individuals apply mindfulness techniques in the treatment of addiction, trauma, and emotional difficulties. Additionally, Nakita completes substance abuse assessments to determine how substances may impact various aspects of an individual’s life.
