Maria completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Saint Mary’s University, and her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. he is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and a Registered Counselling Therapist – Candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT).
Maria has experience counselling children, youth, adults, couples and families on issues related to anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, self-esteem, parenting, communication skill, grief and loss, addiction, stress and anger management, and family conflicts. She works from a trauma-informed and client-centred approach and uses techniques from various modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Play Therapy. Maria brings warmth, empathy and compassion to her practice and aspires to guide clients towards emotional, mental and physical wellness.
